Space Environment Summary

During the past 24 hours, solar activity was low. Five active sunspot regions were on the visible disk with no M-class flare produced. The solar wind speed decreased to about 360 km/s. The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit reached minor storm levels.

Space Environment Forecast

Within the next three days, solar activity is expected to be mainly moderate with a chance for M-class flares. The geomagnetic field is expected to be at quiet to unsettled levels on 8 Oct and reach active to minor storm levels on 9-10 Oct due to the CME from 6 Oct. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit is expected to reach minor storm levels on 8 Oct.
