During the last week, solar activity was low. Thirteen active sunspot regions (AR3239, AR3241-3242, AR3245-3247, AR3249-3255) were on the visible disk with 23 C-Class solar flares produced. There were three solar proton events produced. During 13 Mar 07:45-09:15UT, the greater than 10 MeV proton flux at geosynchronous orbit reached solar proton event levels with the maxmium flux of 12 pfu. During 13 Mar 14:05-16:55UT, the proton flux reached the maxmium of 13 pfu. During 14 Mar 11:55-15 Mar 05:35UT, the proton flux reached the maxmium of 22 pfu. The F10.7 index was decreased from 175 sfu to 135 sfu. Due to the continuous effects of CME on 6 Mar and coronal hole high speed stream, the geomagnetic field reached active levels for 3 hours on 10 Mar. Due to the effects of coronal hole high speed stream and CME, the solar wind speed reached a peak of about 570 km/s, and the geomagnetic field reached moderate storm levels for 6 hours and active levels for 18 hours during 14-16 Mar. It was quiet to unsettled levels for the rest of the time. |
